Singular

"Tristan, may boyfriend ka ba ngayon?", it was my fag hag.

I thought for a while before I was able to reply.

"Wala."

"Hindi ka ba nalulungkot?"

Silence. 

"I'm perfectly fine.", I replied.

I looked away and tried to hide the fact that I was stunned by her simple question. For the first time in more than one and a half years, I felt single again. I felt alone. In deep thought, I packed my bag and started walking home.

"So what if I am single?", I kept on asking myself. 

"... I have all the time in the world... for me.", I continued.

"... and besides, I can be happy being single..."

"... I have friends..."

"... I get laid."

I stopped walking and stared at the city skyline before me. I took in the cold polluted air. I looked around and saw couples walking side by side, laughing. I saw flowers and happy faces. I saw friendship behind romance. Then it hit me.

"Damn, I'm single."
