I went on an extended vacation in Boracay last year and on the second day of the trip, my girl friend, Lordy, asked me to shop around with her for some shirt pasalubongs. We found ourselves in his store.
"Dear, ok ba tong shirt na to?", Lordy asked.
"Go, ask him...", I suggested referring to the salesboy.
He looked decent and quite exciting (read: mukhang manyak) but I was busy looking for the right shirt size.
"Dear, ang cute nung boylet...type mo?" Lordy said referring to the same salesboy.
I looked at him.
"Busy ako."
End of story. Lordy excused herself. She said she needed to check out the shirt store next door. I was still looking for my shirt pasalubongs for my family.
"Boss, may small ka nito?", I asked pointing at a Bora shirt."Opo sir, meron..."
"Pero sir... hindi kasya yun senyo...", you commented.
"Eh tarantado ka pala eh...", I said jokingly.
"Kaw naman sir, di ka na mabiro...", you said as you tickled my side.
I looked at you and wondered.
"Feeling close to...", I thought.
"Sir, girlfriend nyo?", you said referring to Lordy.
I almost puked but I let out a hearty laugh instead.
"Sira ata ulo nito eh...", I muttered.
"Nope. Uy, alam mo bang gwapo ka...", I flirted.
It caught you by surprise. You blushed. I laughed.
"What time do you close?", I asked.
"9 sir..."
"May gimik ba mamaya? Inom tayo...", I asked.
"Hindi kasi nainom mga kasama ko eh... la ko kasama...", I continued.
Again, I saw panic in your eyes. But I also sensed that you liked the idea.
"Sige daanan kita ng 9...", I said after I paid for my shirts.
You grinned. When I saw Lordy, I was grinning as well.
"Lordy, I need the room tonight. Around 10... for an hour."
"Dear ano naman ang ginawa mo? Sino ito? Paano?"
I laughed.
"Napatalikod lang ako sandali eh nakabook ka na? Don't tell me, yung cute na nagbabantay? Eh akin yun eh...", says Lordy.
"Basta pagamit ng room...", I begged.
"Eh dear, Discovery tayo... hindi kaya akalain nya sobrang yaman ka? Baka perahan ka lang?"
"Dear masyado kang madaming soap na pinapanood. Pero sige na nga sa beach na lang...." I decided.
"Ngek, baka mahuli kayo..."
"So I'll use the room na? Maglakad lakad ka na lang muna..."
We both laughed and Lordy was extremely understanding. I got the keys and started walking. It was already past nine when I reached your store. I saw you look at me.
"So tuloy tayo?", I asked.
You looked hesitant.
"San kasi tayo pupunta?", you asked.
"Iinom.", I replied.
"Tapos?"
"Eh di wala na... bakit meron pa ba dapat?"
You still looked hesitant.
"Sige ganito, I'll just have dinner then I'll come back."
"Pag wala ka dito, di hindi na tuloy...", I continued.
"Okay..."
I left for dinner.
"Masyado ko na syang pinag-aantay...", I said as I excused myself from dinner.
I walked to the store again. I smiled when I saw you waiting. You looked different.
"Aba bagong ligo ah...", I jokingly said.
"Maya na tayo uminom...", you said.
"Ha? Bakit?"
You grinned. And just like that, I found myself my very own island souvenir - wrinkle free and it does not even need to be ironed.
Blogger's Note: I saw my island souvenir again last night and he still recognizes me. It was a blog moment. We were both laughing as we tried to converse. I was pretending to browse through his shirt displays while he was trying to attend to other customers. His store still closes at nine and I still did not have anyone to drink with.
